Senior Vice President, Global Communications & Investor Relations
FedEx Corporation

William G. Margaritis oversees all reputation management, investor relations, public relations, employee communications and social responsibility programs for FedEx and its subsidiaries in 220 countries. Since joining FedEx in May 1997, Margaritis has built broad public understanding of the value and benefits of the evolution of FedEx from an air express carrier to a full-service global transportation powerhouse. During his tenure, FedEx has been regularly ranked in the top 10 on the FORTUNE magazine “World’s Most Admired Companies,” “Best Places to Work” and the Harris Interactive Wall Street Journal Most Reputable Companies lists.

Under his leadership, the FedEx communications program has been recognized as “best-of-class” in the discipline of reputation management. At FedEx, Margaritis has led communications efforts for various crises, acquisitions, rebranding initiatives, employee change management programs and new go-to-market strategies. He is also the current president of the Arthur W. Page Society, a professional association for senior corporate communications and public relations executives.

Prior to joining FedEx, Margaritis was vice president of Bechtel International, based in London, England, and was responsible for managing public relations and marketing communications for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Southwest Asia. He also worked in Washington, D.C., and Athens, Greece, for separate divisions of the company. Margaritis also has broad experience in government affairs through positions with Occidental Petroleum, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce’s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, and the Michigan State Senate. In 1984, he worked with the Reagan-Bush re-election campaign as the Deputy Director for the State of Michigan.

He serves on boards including the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, the Arthur Page Society, the Reputation Institute, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Memphis, the We Are Family Foundation, and the Board of Counselors for the Council on Public Relations Agencies. He also serves as a Jury Commissioner in Shelby County, Tenn. A native of Greece, Margaritis emigrated to the U.S. with his family at the age of 8. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Michigan State University. Bill and his family reside in Memphis, Tennessee.

Reputation management expert Bill Margaritis, FedEx Senior Vice President and Chairman of the prestigious Arthur W. Page Society, will lead a dialogue of Socratic questioning to explore how Greece can rebuild its national reputation in the wake of its financial crisis.
